Under the slogan “Where rock and water accompany you”, an attractive route for the Eifelsteig was sought and found, which does justice to this slogan. From the flat north near Aachen over the “Hohe Venn”, through the lonely Rurtal, past imposing reservoirs, the “Eifel National Park” and over the limestone and volcanic Eifel to the southern Eifel, the Eifelsteig leads through the most diverse regions and reveals new scenic impressions to the hiker again and again.
We are located directly on the premium hiking trail no. 1, the Eifelsteig, we are the 6th stage from Steinfeld to Blankenheim – and we continue on the 7th stage to Mirbach.
Other hiking routes include the Eifel Spring Trail, Ahrtal Trail, Wachholder Trail, Bread Trail and Youth Hostel Link Trail. Wonders of nature can be discovered on five themed hiking trails in the Upper Ahr valley nature experience area along 400 km of marked hiking trails. In the unique and largest juniper nature reserve in North Rhine-Westphalia, Lampertstal, orchids, kitchen bells, gentian and autumn timeless flowers bloom from spring to autumn. Blankenheim is also a stop at the Jakobspilgerwerg from Cologne to Trier.
There are numerous themed cycle paths in the municipality of Blankenheim and beyond waiting for a trip with the whole family. The Ahr cycle path begins in the centre of Blankenheim and runs for 80 km along the course of the river Ahr until it flows into the Rhine at Remagen-Kripp. Characterized by green meadows, rivers and vineyards, it offers an impressive experience of nature.
The cycle path “Via-Velo” is a 22.5 km long circular path for young and old leading through the municipalities of Blankenheim and Nettersheim. It leads past the Archaeological Landscape Park in Nettersheim, the Ahekapelle Chapel in the Genevabach Valley and the Römervilla and Ahr Spring in Blankenheim. Exhibitions on the theme of the Römerstraße adventure room can be seen in the documentation centres in Blankenheim and Nettersheim.
Three rivers – the Ahr, the Rhine and the Erft – can be seen on the varied route of the “3-river tour”, which leads through diverse landscapes and past impressive sights.
Breathtaking panoramic views can be experienced on the 230 km long “Eifel-Höhen-Route”. The charming and varied landscape compensates in many ways for the effort required for this sporty and demanding cycle route. The proximity to the Cologne-Trier railway line and the Rurtal railway make this tour easier.
